Pokemon
Like in Nintendo’s games, Pokémon are classified by types. These types (Bug, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Steel, Water) determine each Pokémon’s strengths and weaknesses. For instance, a fire-type Pokémon will receive double damage from an opposing Pokémon’s ice-type attack. The mod features 809 distinct Pokémon with varying rarity, appearing based on their environment (day, night, and biomes).
Pokémon evolve as their level increases, with levels reaching up to 100. Higher-level Pokémon are stronger and possess more potent attacks. To level up and evolve your Pokémon, you must engage in battles with other Pokémon and defeat them. The stronger your opponents, the more experience they will yield. Each Pokémon also has unique stats (attack, defense, speed, attack speed, and defense speed). They can appear in various sizes and shapes, and they may occasionally drop items when defeated.
To catch Pokémon, you will need to use Pokéballs, which vary in effectiveness depending on their design.
Diving into Pixelmon:
Upon creating a new map, you’ll need to select your first Pokémon from the available “starters.” This Pokémon will appear on the left-hand side of your screen in a resizable bar (adjustable with the “O” key).
After choosing your Pokémon, you can send it into battle using the “R” key. When you have multiple Pokémon, press ↑ & ↓ to navigate through your interface. The top Pokémon in your interface bar will be your primary Pokémon and will enter battles first.
To level up your Pokémon and make them stronger, you can employ several methods:
- Battle other Pokémon solo: Defeating them earns experience depending on their level. This straightforward technique is effective over time.
- Use a high-level and low-level Pokémon combination: Start a battle with your low-level Pokémon and switch to a high-level Pokémon on the first turn. Defeating the opponent will grant experience to both Pokémon.
- Craft a “Rare Candy”: This costly method allows you to level up any Pokémon. Ideally, use it on high-level Pokémon, as the ingredients required are rare.
- Engage in multiplayer battles (with Pixelmon’s PvP option enabled): Players can battle each other. One player forfeits all fights, allowing their opponent to gain experience. However, this may be considered cheating.
