In the latest tweets, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple would postpone and cancel the whole mass production of this model. It’s obvious that middle tier and lower-end smartphones such as iPhone SE 3, the iPhone 13 mini, and the iPhone 14 Plus do not perform well at the market. Therefore, it is clear that the demands for these models are lower than expected. This is one of the most significant factors causing the delay.

Moreover, with several changes that Apple is making with its manufacturing factories in China, there must be a postponement with the production. The Covid-19 lockdown in several major Chinese cities causes lack of workforce and supply. The tech giant is looking up to India and Vietnam to shift its factories to new locations with better conditions for the production. These include a more stable workforce, society and supply chain.
Kuo also clarified in his tweets that Apple is planning for a full screen design in the new iPhone SE 4. This, definitely, costs a higher price. The company has to “reconsider the product positioning and return on investment”. After the pandemic, several things have changed around the world, most significantly, the global economy which Apple is really reconsidering. Lately, the latest iPhone 14 series does not sell as well as its predecessors and it is one of the most vivid examples.

The earlier rumors have said that the iPhone SE 4 is going to be very different and advanced, compared to the previous SE models. Several changes including its design, screen display, camera sets, the new Touch ID power button or Face ID… have been planned for this phone. But at the end of the day, if the demand does not meet with the expectation, the best solution is to put it to stop. Especially with Apple users or iPhone users in particular, they are less fond of cheaper options when it comes to buying a brand new phone. They want it to be new and powerful and a flagship.
