According to Bloomberg’s newsletter recently, the iconic Apple’s all-in-one iMac is not getting an upgrade early with the latest M2 chip. The latest model was released in 2021 and equipped with the M1 chip. The iMac 2021 also has a new design with multiple options including 7 different colors and two display sizes: 27 inch and 24 inch. The newsletter also stated that the new M3 chip is rumored to roll out later this year. Which means there will be several new devices introduced to the market. The author, Mark Gurman wrote “I haven’t seen anything to indicate there will be a new iMac until the M3 chip generation, which won’t arrive until the tail end of this year at the earliest or next year. So if you want to stick with the iMac, you’ll just have to sit tight.” The MacBook Pro with M2 chip launched the earliest, in 2021. Following that, the MacBook Air with M2 chip also rolled out in 2022. However, many rumors from insiders such as manufacturers and employees suggested that the iMac with M2 chip did not get greenlit.

The Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro are both put into discontinuation after the launch of this model. Gurman believes that Apple would not give the iMac a version with the M2 chip. However, we will still have to wait for the official statement from the company in the future. Hopefully, there will be more news about this device and other devices from Apple.
